Electrical Power Systems
Overview
Electrical power systems link generation to the loads they serve. This course gives a practical understanding of power system components and behaviour: generation, transmission and distribution, load flow, faults, protection principles, power quality and operating the system safely and reliably.
Who should attend
Electrical engineers and technicians, power plant and utility staff, and engineers moving into power systems roles.
Training methodology
Technical presentations, worked examples and calculations, case studies from industrial facilities, videos, group exercises, and a personal action plan.
Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the structure and components of power systems
- Apply per-unit and basic load flow concepts
- Calculate fault levels and explain their effects
- Explain protection principles and coordination
- Identify power quality issues and reliability measures
